FAQ
About the Experience
Can I do flips and tricks in the tunnel?
WINDLAB's first concern is for your safety – so tricks and flips are done by experienced flyers. Everyone starts off flying on their belly, but we can help you gain the experience you need to work towards flying like the pros.
Is it safe?
Yes, safety is our top priority. Every aspect of the wind tunnel design has been carefully considered to create a fully controlled environment that provides total safety. Our certified and highly-trained instructors (link to meet the team) are with you at all times during your flight, to give guidance and reassurance.
How old do you have to be?
Little kids, old timers, and everyone in between. Flyers can be as young as 3 years old, with no upper age limit. Children under 18 years of age need to have a parent or guardian’s signature on their waiver.
How long is a flight?
Each flight within the wind tunnel lasts for 50 seconds. That’s actually more free fall time than a skydive from 14,000 feet! Our standard flight package includes 2 flights, with an instructor helping you make the most of your time. You can also choose to add additional flights to your packages. The whole experience normally takes approximately 1.5 hours, however this will be depend on your group size and how many flights you are doing.
Do I jump in from the top?
No, you just step into the flight chamber at ground level with your flight instructor. First time flyers generally only fly a couple of metres above the net (with your instructor beside you all the way).
How do I fly to the top of the tunnel?
As your experience in indoor skydiving progresses you instructor will teach you how to control your flying and the fly safely at different levels. As a beginner flyer we do offer a HighRide where you fly towards the top of the tunnel with your instructor by your side for a small charge. This is subject to availability (as it takes a top level instructor to perform this).
Who can fly?
There’s no experience required, so beginners, intermediates and experts can all fly. Of course, you need to be in good health and physical condition. If you’ve had a prior shoulder dislocation or back, neck or heart problems, please contact us before booking to discuss your suitability. Anyone with a hard plaster cast, pregnant or under the influence of alcohol or drugs is also unable to fly. Please read the waiver for full details.
Our facilities are wheelchair accessible and can fly people with certain physical disabilities, including amputation and paraplegia. Please contact us for details - we'd love to get you flying!
Is there a weight restriction?
If you are under 180cm, the weight limit is 105kg, and 115kg if you are over 180cm. If you don’t fit any of these categories, please contact us and we will discuss your personal situation.
Can I fly with anyone else?
With our WINDLAB introductory packages we normally only fly people individually in the tunnel, one-on-one with their instructor. The rest of the team can still share the experience watching from the open plan observation deck. After your first flight, grab one of our 4 or 10 Flight Return Packages to progress quickly to flying with others.
What time should I get there?
Please arrive 1 hour before your flight time to ensure everyone has signed their waivers and to get you geared up ready to fly. Your arrival time will be included on your booking confirmation.
What should I wear?
Please wear well-fitting, lace-up sneakers or running shoes. Other shoes are not suitable. Wear casual clothes, preferably pants and a shirt with no collar. You won’t have to change out of these clothes - you simply put your flight suit on over them.
Will I need to take off my watch and jewellery?
Yes. You should remove any items that might flap around or become loose, such as earrings, necklaces, bracelets, watches, rings, and hair accessories. In addition, you should remove everything from your pockets. We do have FREE lockers for your use, but we recommend that you leave anything valuable at home, as we cannot be responsible for lost or stolen property.
Can I wear my glasses?
All first-time flyers are required to take the training class. You’ll get a lot of important and helpful information as well as some pre-flight practice of your flying position. If you’ve flown with us once within the last three months, you don’t have to do the training session again and can book a flight as a Return Flyer.
Do I have to do the training session?
Yes. All our facilities have full 360 viewing platforms and it’s free to watch whether you’re with someone who is flying or just wanting to check it out yourself.
Can I bring someone to watch?
Yes. We have larger goggles that fit straight over your glasses.
How can I fly cheaper?
If you return to WINDLAB within 3 months of your flight, you can fly without having to complete the training and save money with the X packages. X packages must be purchased within 1 week of your last flight. We also have a range of Experienced Flyer packages that sell by the minute. TOP TIP - learn to fly with others and you split the cost.
Do I need to make a reservation?
We recommend you make a flight reservation in advance to guarantee availability. Due to the popularity of indoor skydiving, some sessions sell out quickly. We may be able to fit you in a later session, so it’s always worth checking.
What is included with my flight?
Our First-Time Flyer package includes your training session, use of a flight suit, goggles, helmet and earplugs, plus one-to-one instruction and a personalized flight certificate.
The family package is for 1-5 people. What if my family has 6 people in it?
No worries! Just purchase an additional WINDLAB Individual Package and book it in the same session.
Can I add more children to my birthday party package?
For sure. An indoor skydiving birthday party is the perfect way to celebrate that special day. Whether it’s for kiddies or grown ups, we’ll make sure everyone has an unforgettable time. Just contact us to arrange the best birthday present ever.
What about a really large group - say 50 to 300 people?
Yes! We fly groups of up to 300 people. Enjoy special perks and pricing when you bring your family reunion, staff, association or other large group to WINDLAB. We can help you with all the details, from planning to catering. Check out our Group packages.
About Reservations & Bookings
What if I have fewer people than the group package?
If you have fewer flyers than the maximum your group package can hold, then we just split the extra flight time between you. So if someone can't make it last minute or you don't have 10 kids for the party package - no problem, more fun for the rest!
Do you have a private party area?
Yes! We have a private room available to hire for your party, workshop or team-building event. We can also help make arrangements for anything extra you may wish to add such as catering and decorations.

If you’re interested, our instructors can help you improve your flying skills and master the maneuvers required for competitive events.
What is a vertical wind tunnel?
Pretty simple really. It’s a large glass tunnel that extends skywards with powerful electric fans at the top. When these operate, air is drawn up through the tunnel, creating a cushion of air that you can fly on. The amount of airflow is precisely controlled to ensure that it matches the experience level of those in the tunnel. Check out some cool details on the technology behind vertical wind tunnels.

Yes, however it will have to be inspected by one of our senior instructors and given the all clear prior to flight. It must be a "skydive" specific weight belt and must be of good condition. Keep in mind this is applicable to "ProFlyers". You will not require a weight belt for your first flights.
